Robin Hood Association's Adult Services consists of two major program areas:

  • Day Program (located at the Learning Centre and in the community)
  • Residential Program (i.e. group homes)

Robin Hood is currently seeking Community Disability Workers for its Residential and/or Day Programs.

What training does Robin Hood provide?

The Robin Hood Association offers Mandatory Training Courses which are provided and paid for by the Robin Hood Association.  They must be completed within the first six months of employment.

Job Descriptions

The Residence Community Disability Worker will provide care to individuals served by the Robin Hood Association’s residential program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist up to 5 clients with regular routines in a residential group-home environment
  • Support clients during on-site and community based activities
  • Limited personal care
  • Some lifting and transferring
  • Domestic duties
  • In some residential homes, palliative care, oxygen use and/or tube feeding is required

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • Positive attitude with a friendly and outgoing nature
  • Proven team player with ability to adapt quickly and positively to change
  • Physically able to perform job functions including lifting and transferring
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Community rehabilitation experience or education would be a definite asset
  • Knowledge of epilepsy and behavior management is an asset, but training is available
  • Valid drivers licence and access to personal vehicle is an asset

The Day Program Community Disability Worker acts in a front-line support and assistance role to provide personal and health care services to individuals served by the Robin Hood Association's day program.

Responsibilities include :

  • Support clients in daily routines while encouraging choice and independence
  • Support client in on-site or community-based activities (including transportation monitoring)
  • Assist in the implementation of client’s Individual Service Plan
  • Implement established modules, learning or behavioral programs and restrictive procedures
  • Implement individual dietary plans; encourage and monitor proper nutrition
  • Exhibit professional and positive attitude, including a willingness to receive and provide feedback

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

The Residence Community Disability Practitioner will provide care to individuals served by the Robin Hood Association’s residential program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing individuals with a learning environment focused on helping them live to their full potential
  • Program writing
  • Development and implementation of Individual Service Plans
  • Responsible for medical appointments
  • Communicate with families / guardians
  • Assist in monitoring services of a Robin Hood residence
  • Staffing, coaching and scheduling of regular and relief staff
  • Assist clients with regular, recreational and domestic endeavors

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • Community rehabilitation work experience and/or post-secondary education is desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, maturity, ability to relate well to staff and clients, demonstrated literacy and communication skills
  • Training/coaching experience would be a definite asset
  • Able to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of epilepsy and behavior management is an asset, but training is available
  • Valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle
  • Minimum Grade 12 High School Diploma


The Day Program Community Disability Practitioner provides training, care and support to individuals served by the Robin Hood Association's day program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Service Plans, progress reports, summaries and goal procedures for clients
  • Provide training, personal services and health care services for clients
  • Provide advocacy and support for clients in daily routines and community settings, while promoting client choice and independence
  • Assist clients in accessing community services
  • Develop and implement modules, learning and/or behavioral programs
  • Instruct client in work and encourage appropriate social interaction
  • Support clients in on-site or community-based settings
  • Arrange appropriate transportation support for clients as needed
  • May co-supervise with Team Leaders to ensure supervision, training and evaluation of Community Support Worker I(s), practicum students, work experience students and volunteers
  • Exhibit professional attitudes and performance on a consistent basis

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • Community rehabilitation work experience and/or post secondary education is desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, maturity, ability to relate well to staff and clients, demonstrated literacy and communication skills
  • The ability to identify, analyze and resolve issues of concern directly and access support when needed
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Physical stamina to meet job requirements
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s License and access to personal vehicle
  • Minimum of Grade 12 High School Diploma
