The Robin Hood Association is a major provider of affordable housing in Strathcona County. Sherwood Park seriously lacks affordable housing for many populations, including people with developmental disabilities.  Our present intake waiting list includes approximately 30 individuals requiring affordable housing and residential services within the next three years.

The development of the Aspen Village facility will allow more individuals to receive services using existing residential facilities.  With a decline in the labor pool, our ability to meet the residential needs of our clientele requires an approach that will ensure a high quality of life, while maximizing the resources we do have.

The primary target resident for the Aspen Village site will be people with developmental disabilities who are generally over the age of 45 years and have mobility challenges.

Project Update

The completion of the Aspen Village project is now in sight. We expect the bulding will be turned over to us on or about February 19, 2010. We are planning to move in during the last week of February and begin operation at the beginning of March.

The parking lots, sidewalks and patios are complete except for some work at the back of the building which will be included with the landscaping phase of the project. The exterior of the building is complete. The mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems are approximately 80% complete. The elevator has been installed and is operational. Window coverings have been ordered.

Many people have asked about tours of Aspen Village. We will begin tours in mid-February. Information on how to sign up for a tour will be made available at the beginning of February.

For more information or to provide feedback regarding Aspen Village, contact Ann Marie LePan, Director of Adult Services at (780) 467-7140 Ext. 225 or email lepan@robinhoodassoc.com.
