Children & Youth Services

 

Robin Hood Association's Children & Youth Services consists of five major program areas:

  • Early Intervention Program
  • Family Support Services
  • Summer Program
  • Early Childhood Development
  • Family Consultation and Training Network

When positions are available, Children & Youth Services hires for Community Disability Workers (CDW) in Family Support. All CDW positions are available on a relief basis. Lengths of shifts can vary between 2 - 48 hours. Weekday, evening and weekend shifts are available. Part-time and full-time shifts will be posted as they come available.

What training does Robin Hood provide?

The Robin Hood Association offers Mandatory Training Courses which are provided and paid for by the Robin Hood Association. They must be completed within the first six months of employment.

Job Descriptions

The Community Disability Worker (CDW) will provide care to individuals served by the Robin Hood Association's Family Support Program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support clients in daily routines while encouraging choice and independence, in a play-based atmosphere.
  • Support clients in their in-home and community based activities
  • Personal care
  • Some lifting and transferring
  • Limited domestic duties
  • In some homes, tube feeding is required

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • The ability to work independently
  • Postive attitude with a friendly and outgoing nature
  • Proven team player with ability to adapt quickly and positively to change
  • Physically able to perform job functions including lifting and transferring
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Community rehabilitation experience or education would be a definite asset
  • Knowledge of epilepsy and behavior management is an asset, but training is available
  • Valid drivers licence and access to personal vehicle is an asset
