History
The Robin Hood Association is a non-profit society that provides services to people with disabilities. The organization was formed in 1963 under the guidance
of Col. E. W. Cormack and Dr. Barbara Cormack.
The first project
undertaken by the Association was the development of the Robin
Hood School which was originally in a house in Sherwood Park.
Robin Hood Centre, located at 3 Spruce Avenue, was constructed
in 1968. In 1974 an adult vocational program was initiated. The
Robin Hood Association also opened its first community-based
group home that year. In the 1980's a wide range of services for children with disabilities were developed.
The Robin Hood Learning Centre was built
in 1997 and is a central location for all programs operated by
the Association as well as administrative services.
The principles that have guided the Robin Hood Association are a commitment to excellence in service delivery and a willingness to be innovative. The history of the Robin Hood Asssociation has been marked by steady growth and the provision of an increasingly broad array of services to meet the needs of persons with disabilities.
