Broadway's Summer Celebration BBQ Marks a New Chapter

On Friday, July 10, 2026, the RHA community gathered to celebrate the completion of the Broadway Rehabilitation Project with a Summer Celebration BBQ, generously sponsored by EMCEE Construction & Management.

While the day began with rainy skies, the clouds soon cleared, making way for sunshine and the perfect afternoon to celebrate this exciting milestone. Individuals, staff, families, partners, volunteers, and community members came together to recognize not only the completion of a major rehabilitation project, but also the dedication and collaboration that made it possible.

For nearly 30 years, the Broadway building has been a place where individuals build skills, foster meaningful relationships, gain independence, and experience a true sense of belonging. Over the past two and a half years, extensive renovations have transformed the building into a safer, more accessible, and sustainable space that will continue serving the community for generations to come.

The celebration itself was every bit as lively as the community it brought together. The afternoon included burgers, hot dogs and popsicles, live music, dancing, games, a scavenger hunt, a photo booth, prizes, adaptive gaming with Inclusion Arcade and plenty of laughs at the dunk tank.

During the event, Chief Administrative Officer Trevor reflected on the journey to Broadway's renewal, expressing gratitude to the many people and organizations whose commitment helped bring the project to life. He acknowledged the Partnership & Development Team for leading The Empowerment Project, the Broadway Rehabilitation Project Team, Wade Consulting, EMCEE Construction & Management, the Government of Alberta through the Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP), dedicated volunteers, and the many staff, individuals, families, and community supporters who remained patient, flexible, and encouraging throughout the rehabilitation.

This achievement represents much more than the completion of a construction project. It is a testament to what can be accomplished when a community invests in inclusion, accessibility, dignity, and opportunity. Broadway is more than a building—it's a place where people connect, grow, and thrive.
